Veterans Malta vs Manchester Reds by Visit Malta

The Manchester United Supporters’ Club Malta is celebrating the 65th anniversary since it was founded in 1959, one year after the Munich air tragedy. MUSC Malta is proudly recognised as the oldest Manchester United Supporters’ Club in the world, including UK.

As part of the programme of events to celebrate this historical milestone, MUSC Malta will be bringing over a team of former Manchester United players, Manchester Reds, who will play a friendly match against a team made up of former Malta National team players known as Malta Veterans. The game will be played at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday 13th June, kick-off at 7.30 pm. The lineup of former Manchester United players includes legendary names like Jaap Stam and Ronny Johnsen, who were the central defensive duo in that unforgettable Treble season for the United fans in 1998/99. Stam also played for Lazio and AC Milan. The squad will also include other prominent former players like Lee Sharpe and David May. There will be other Man Utd Legends in attendance, but who will not be in the squad. These include Brian Kidd, Sammy McIlroy, Martin Buchan, Lou Macari and Steve Coppell. All great names in the history of this football Club who bring many nostalgia to the local fervent followers of a certain age. Tickets for the game will be available from the Club and from the MFA website very soon.

The game is part of a number of events being organised by the Supporters’ Club that week, in Malta and in Gozo. Supporters’ Club members shall be informed exclusively about all other events.
