Twente came to OT to play and they did cause a few moments of anxiety in the first. Dalot gave the ball cheaply away near the corner flag and the cross found a Twente player free (loose marking there but ball was in our possession) and we were close to being published.
Rashford was getting involved in the first half and Amad also had some positive initiatives on the right but in all fairness we need to create more chances. Zirkzee showed some good touches but the boy desperately needs a couple of goals.
We took the lead with a great goal by Eriksen who pounced on a loose ball in the box and struck an unstoppable shot. 1-0 at HT.
I expected United to push for a second goal in the second half but id did not really happen. Twente started having a go and when you do not put a game to bed, the inevitable happens.
Eriksen was caught in possession and Onana fell for the half dummy and it was 1-1. The usual changes and last throw of the dice did not produce a second goal and the match ended in a disappointing draw.
This United side may have some new players and we also are conceding less chances than the 20 per game of last season but the results are not coming and we are still struggling to create and score goals!
ETH must fix this or he’s going to run out of time…my hypothetical 10 matches and needing a minimum of 20 points out of a potential 30 to survive still holds…Numquam Moribimur.
