Spurs 4
Man Utd 3
United are out of the Caraboa Cup as Spurs were the better team in a roller coaster match that saw United try to get back into it thanks to a helping hand by the Spurs keeper. It was not enough.
Solanke put Spurs ahead after 15 min – Bayindir in goal pushed his save in the dangerous area. 1-0 down. Lindelof hobbled off injured and we somehow made it to HT – we can perhaps turn it around in the second half! We conceded the second within minutes of the restart. Simply not good enough!
It got worse. Within 10 minutes it was 3-0 and game over. The defence was having a shocker – especially Martinez. Amorim made some changes but it was the Spurs keeper Forster that let uis back in it. Zirckzee got one back after playing out did not work. And then Amad caught him dallying on his clearance and it was 3-2 with 7 minutes. Can we save this, I said to myself? We had Spurs on the ropes and very nearly made it 3-3 with Mazraoui shooting wide and Amad forcing a luck save by the confused Forster.
And then we conceded another goal – a stupid one – direct from a corner! Frustrating to say the least. There was still time for a Evans header to go in and make it 4-3. A great match for the neutrals but a frustrating evening with so many defensive errors once again. Amorim needs a new keeper and a new striker in January – players that can make a difference and that would have won us matches such as this one…Numquam Moribimur.
