Sheffield United 1
Man Utd 2
Diego Dalot came up with a winner 13 minutes from time to give United a precious 3 points and the second win on the trot for the first time this season.
It was not a great performance and we were horrible in the first 25 minutes when the Blades were pressing on every ball. But the second part of the first half saw us starting to put some passes together and we started creating chances.
Scott McTominay continued in his goalscoring mood when he gave us the lead on 28 minutes when Bruno provided one of his most weird assists but Scott managed to prod it home. 3 minutes later, the same player handled in the box and it was 1-1. The Sheffield equaliser jolted us into action and we should have been ahead at HT with the bar and the opposing keeper denying us the lead. At this point I was thinking that the scourge of the horrible pyjama kit was going to hit us again.
United were pretty much in charge during the second half but had to wait till the 77th minute to get the winner. Dalot popped up with a screamer from outside the box and we managed to control the last 15 minutes without too much panic against a poor Sheffield side that will most probably be relegated come May.
Some positives. We won despite playing with Evans, Maguire and Lindelof in defence. I am hoping that the fragile Varane can play in the derby and give us some much needed composure at the back. Garnacho was lively when he came on. On the negative side, Antony was opaque and I cannot imagine that Pellistri can do worse. Bruno is not exactly in form at the moment and it shows.
3 important home matches are coming up next and ETH needs to get his men to play better football as we enter into the time of the season that results are going to determine the rest of the season…NUMQUAM MORIBIMUR!
