Sesko with the winner

Everton 0–1 Manchester United — Premier League, 23 February 2026

United bagged 3 precious points on a Monday night fixture at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, edging out Everton 1–0 in what was a tough, cagey battle. The match was not a classic by any styretch of the imagination, and we saw very little freeflowing football from both sides. You just know that these matches will be won or lost with one decisive moment  – and Sesko delivered yet again!

The first half was largely a midfield tussle. United’s high press and movement did test Everton early and I think we were the better side throughout the match, but the Toffees’ defensive discipline kept the score level till the break as we struggled to create chances. The breakthrough came in the 71st minute when Sesko, once again introduced as a substitute by Carrick, pounced on a swift counter‑attack. Cunha started the counter from deep inside our half, Mbeumo made the run and slotted the ball into the path of the Slovenian striker who calmly curled the ball past Pickford to score the only goal of the match as we celebrated Sesko’s third goal in four appearances and another sign that he is not only getting used to the pace of the EPL, he is actually enjoying it!

United’s defence did its job and Lammens between the sticks made a couple of important saves to keep the clean sheet. Lammens also commanded his area effectively, earning praise for his timing and composure in the penalty box by the media.

The performance wasn’t vintage United, particularly on the road, but it displayed a collective work‑rate and tactical discipline that interim Carrick has stressed since taking charge. After the game, Carrick highlighted the team’s spirit and willingness to battle through difficult spells especially given the break between fixtures prior to this match.

The victory also kept United unbeaten in the Premier League this calendar year and, crucially, propelled us back into a top‑four position, a position that seemed unlikely before Christmas. May this resurgence continue…Numquam Moribimur.
