Man Utd 0
Newcastle Utd 3
Another shambolic performance. United’s miserable form continued with another 3-0 home defeat, this time in the Carabao Cup, the Cup that we won last season and which many of us supporters thought would lead to a new era under the manager who up to that point seemed like the one that we had been looking for. Fast forward 9 months and ETHs project at United is all over the place.
Both teams made wholesome changes to their usual line ups but by now it seems evident that no matter who is picked to play, the team is not functioning as a team. And I am the first one to point out that our beloved club has serious issues that go much deeper than the manager and the players but, as they say, the buck stops with him.
ETH is increasingly looking like a defeated man. His body language does not project positivity and his pre and post match interviews are now verging on the delusional. I do not think ETH is a bad coach, but is he a good manager? It is increasingly evident that the players are not following him.
The minute Almiron gave Newcastle the lead after 28 minutes you just knew what was coming. Apart from the fact that our defence was exposed, the heads dropped. Once again. And after 36 minutes the tie was over when Newcastle doubled their lead after more shambolic defending.
Changes were done at HT and during the second half but nothing seems to be working at the moment. Newcastle added a third to pile on the misery and United never really threatened to score let alone make a comeback.
Increasingly, it does look like a scenario we’ve seen before. The Glazers have led the club where it is today and their farcical takeover saga is not helping and is further dragging our beloved club downwards. Will it get much worse before it gets better?…NUMQUAM MORIBIMUR!
