Fernandes with added time winner

Fulham 0
Man Utd 1

Bruno Fernandes came up with another rare moment of quality to secure 3 precious points that provide some breathing space for ETH. I missed the first 10 minutes or so and the commentators did not seem convinced at all about McTominay’s disallowed goal early on. It does seem that we are not getting even close to getting the rub of the green when it comes to the refereeing/VAR decisions.

As for the rest of the match, my personal opinion is that it was a dull game with very little quality on display. I kept expecting us to take control and put Fulham under the cosh but it never really happened did it? ETH said in the post match interview that he saw an improvement today which is optimistic but the man needs a break so I concede that to him.

My concern is that Fulham, despite lacking quality up front, still caused our defence a few problems. This is mainly due to our fullbacks very often being caught out of position. Our midfield today failed to dominate and Eriksen and Bruno were poor throughout with Scott trying to get involved but with not much success. I feel sorry for Hojlund because the service he is being given is very poor and strikers need to be involved, miss chances, and have another chance to redeem themselves. He is getting crumbs and we struggle to create anything going forward.

ON a positive note, Garnacho was positive throughout and he was our best player in my opinion. Good to see Varane on in injury time as it should mean he is available for midweek.

At the end, it was, again, a moment of quality that got us the 3 points and not the domination of an inferior side tactically and physically. I am hoping that the win raises the morale of players as we need to improve drastically in all areas…NUMQUAM MORIBIMUR!
