Amad hat trick sees off Saints

Man Utd 3

Soton 1

United should thank Amad Diallo for a superb late hat trick and 3 points and the first home win in 4 matches. I could only watch the highlights of this one as I was away savouring the Sicilian food and from the look of it, it was pretty at all until Amad decided to take the Saints apart.

The extended highlights were enough to show that some of the players were nowhere near as focused as they were against the Gunners in the FA Cup. The Soton players repeatedly went past our defenders and midfielders and Onana was being kept busy keeping his goal intact. Eventually we did go behind and the ball ricocheted in the box off Ugarte and Onana could not keep it out (I think he should have kept it out).

Fast forward to the 82nd minute and Amad took the initiative inside the opponent’s box the rebound favoured him – 1-1. Minutes later, he went on a run asking for the ball to be flicked into his path – Eriksen obliged with a delicate chip – the volley was sweet. 2-1 up in the 90th minute. There was still time for Amad to pounce on an error from the defender and make it 3-1. The result may be a bit tough on the Saints based n what I have seen, but it was a much needed win for Amorim and our beloved red devils. The challenge now is to build on this and improve – and there is so much room for improvement…Numquam Moribimur!
