United exit European stage

Man Utd 0

Bayern Munich 1

The theory of probability dictated that it was highly unlikely that United would go through to the last 16 of the CL – the OT pitch confirmed it.

Bayern Munich, with zero motivation as they were already comfortably qualified, put on a professional display and were the better team on the night.

United could not really create problems for their opponents and our forwards were completely dominated by the opposing defence. I can only recall a shot by Shaw (who was subbed at HT…new injury??) testing Neuer throughout the 90 minutes and that is simply not good enough, especially if you have the need to win to give yourself a chance!!

It must have been a harsh lesson for the likes of Hojlund and Garnacho as they found a wall that simply said no every time they got the ball. They will learn from this experience.

The returning Varane did reasonably well and his imminent departure could perhaps be reconsidered as Maguire hobbled off with a groin injury. The fact the the physio allowed Maguire to go back on the pitch when it was clear that he could not play shows how deep our problems are at our beloved club. Amateurism has crept in over the years and sadly, it does not seem that ETH has managed to cure the virus despite the high hopes of all of us last season.

The virus (aka the Glazers) has wiped out the soul of Manchester United and 7 home defeats this season by December are clear signs that there is no solution at this point in time to cure this virus which has the ability to mutilate and adapt even to the cure ETH and others before him suggested. Last night I saw the words of Ralph Rangnick and they kept scrolling in front of me in my dreams (might as well call it nightmare!) – open heart surgery is needed!

If I recall correctly, Mourinho was sacked following a defeat in December vs the Scousers. It could very well be that history repeats itself in the coming days. I do not think that ETH can survive this season at this stage, and the Italian commentator yesterday mentioned that Conte is being suggested. The sooner SJR take over the running of the club, the better, but even that decision keeps being postponed, to the detriment of the club, of course!

Time will tell…NUMQUAM MORIBIMUR!
