Year ends with another defeat

Nottingham Forest 2

Man Utd 1

As a United supporter since 1976, I do not really recall such a low even though I spent the first 26 years of my life waiting for the first title, United played entertaining football most of the time, which pleased the supporters and more often than not, even the neutrals.

This United side is playing the worst football I have seen, even in the post SAF era. No urgency, no plan, no system, and individuals who are not ready to give their all despite stratospheric wages. This is where the Glazers have taken us and despite new managers coming in in the last 10 years, it has only got worse.

The second half display Vs Villa was another false dawn. We have had several in recent years and every time we are back to square one.

Nothing much to say about yesterday’s match. The word ‘shambolic’ kept coming to mind as I witnessed yet another 45 minutes of a United team unable to muster one shot on target.

ETH pulled off Mainoo at HT and put on Mctominay but the move backfired. Both Forest goals were due to our defence being exposed as there was no one in front to track onrushing players. I thought ETH was the right man to take us forward after last season. Following a dodgy start we had a decent run, playing decent football and this led to the winning of the league Cup. And then it went away…like somebody switched us off and cannot put us back on. ETH was set up to fail this summer and failed he has. I do not think the results and the displays can save any manager and at this point, I think his days as a United manager are counted.

Rashford’s temporary equaliser, by the way, was only thanks to the Forest keeper doing his utmost to get us into the match. It was a gift, but we gave it up only 4 minutes later! Unbelievit…as the panto line goes…and it has been like a panto this season.

Amad is probably the only positive I can get out of yesterday’s match – otherwise it was a 3/10 performance throughout. Not acceptable against a Forest side that was surely there to be beaten!

Open heart surgery is needed and the hope is that INEOS can do it. Any patching up will simply not work so let’s hope 2024 brings a lot of major surgeries to our beloved club! Only after that can we hope to rise again…NUMQUAM MORIBIMUR!
