FA Cup Winners 2024

Man City 1

Man Utd 2

Manchester is RED. I wrote the title before the match..and the score. I had been saying that we will win the FA Cup since the Liverpool win, the Coventry match and how we survived that, despite trying our best to throw it away, confirmed that we had it this year…name on the Cup.

United played one of the best 45 minutes this year in the first half. Garnacho gave us the lead when a long ball caused havoc in the Citeh defence and the Agentinian poked the ball home into an empty net. 1-0 up – a good start and we were containing Citeh well. 9 minutes later it was mayhem. Garnacho was sent flying on the right, his low ball to Bruno was exquisitely passed on to Mainoo – 2-0 – our supporters club was rocking!!

We all knew that there was still half the game to go, the pressure was on and Citeh made two half time changes. Our defence stood firm but on 87 minutes Doku pulled on back. Squeaky bum time. 10 minutes and a bit more later, it was over. The players put in an extra shift today. Varane and Martinez played well and we missed their combination this season. Bruno worked hard and led by example and Amrabat ran his socks off covering the defence. The youngsters, Garnacho and Mainoo won the cup for us.

We have beaten our noisy neighbours – revenge for last year and some consolation for a season that we need to forget.

I doubt very much that ETH will be around come August, but if this was his last game in charge, he ended on a high, bringing the FA Cup to OT. Thank you boss!

Now is the time to celebrate – from next week, the rebuild need to start and we need to factor in that we will be playing on Thursday’s – the Europa League is not my favourite but I’ll take it after this season…Numquam Moribimur!
