Defeat in London as goal drought continues

West Ham United 2

Man Utd 0

Another defeat for ETH and United against a West Ham side that seemed beatable in the first hour of the match. In football though, you need to take your chances, especially if you are creating just 1.6 open chances per match!

After 30 minutes in the first half, with United having 60% possession but not creating much, West Ham made a couple of mistakes and we did not capitalise, Garnacho being the main culprit when he tried to open his body and place it with his right when he should have used his left foot to score.

The second half was going nowhere until a perfectly looped ball found Bowen who missed his first attempt but Onana fumbled and the rebound favoured the West Ham player. 1-0 down and our heads dropped. I feel sorry for Mainoo as his mistake lead to the second goal. He was having another decent match but just like the other players around him, he lost his focus. He will learn from this.

It is increasingly looking like ETH has run out of ideas and his insistence with Antony on the right and not dropping the keeper is not doing him any favours. I think that in any other season the manager would have been sacked with these results. It could be that the takeover saga is influencing the decision but ETH has been poor this season and injuries are not an excuse.

As I am writing this, Liverpool Vs Arsenal is on TV and it seems toe that these two sides play at supersonic speed compared to us! It is going to take you 2 or 3 minutes of passing the ball around to get to the opponent’s box, they are obviously going to be there waiting and in position.

ETH needs to make United play more direct football, drop the keeper and Antony, and give the boy Hojlund some service. Only positive today is the debut of Kwambala as centre half. He did well…NUMQUAM MORIBIMUR!
