I had to miss this one as had booked tickets for Christmas panto – well, it seems I did not miss anything, at least from a supporters point of view. When watching the highlights I got the impression that we could have been 0-4 down by HT and that is simply not acceptable.
The big question that we keep asking ourselves is how worse can it get before it starts getting any better.
I do not believe that this group of players is good enough to win the EPL – some would argue that we are not even good enough for a top 4 finish – and the results are proving these supporters right. My counter argument is are all the teams in from of us better than us individually or collectively? Are Notts Forest better than us, with all our deficiencies? I am convinced that these group of players can play much better – surely better than this! We are always going to struggle with a dodgy keeper and a striker that can’t score and does not provide assists, but we are surely better than this. And I have faith that Ruben Amorim knows what he is doing and will improve this lot. There are a good number of players in the current squad that need to go, for various reasons, but let us not be naïve here, you cannot just rid of players – also because the previous administration got us into this mess with ridiculous contracts handed out to average players!
In Ruben I trust – I do not know much about him but this man strikes me as a guy who is determined to succeed…Numquam Moribimur!
