United end season in 3rd place

Man Utd 2

Fulham 1

United finished the season on a positive note, beating Fulham and grabbing 3rd spot despite Newcastle’s challenge. It was another roller-coaster of a match despite a slower tempo which is perfectly normal at the end of the season.
United were the better side in the early stages despite not setting any houses on fire. Garnacho on the left was trying to create something every time he had the ball and it was just a matter of time before we took the lead. Right? Well, we went 1-0 down from a corner when Rashford lost the defender he was supposed to mark. Conceding from a set play was bad enough, or maybe it wasn’t! We gave away a penalty a few minutes later. Maguire played a poor ball out of defence and Casemiro floored the advancing Fulham player.
We could have easily gone 2-0 down but DDG came to the rescue. Not  only did he save Mitrovic’s penalty but he made another important save late on. I have criticised DDG this season, a lot, but today he won us the points. Credit where it is due.
Encouraged by DDG’s save, United piled on the pressure and Sancho equalised before HT after some missed chances. Fred’s run into the box caused chaos in the Fulham box and Sancho pounced on the loose ball. 1-1.
United started brightly in the second half and Bruno was sent through by Fred to make it 2-1 with a deft finish on 55 minutes. A well taken goal. 2-1.
On 65 minutes ETH made 3 changes and we lost our rhythm. Fulham tried to push for an equaliser but we held on. Weghorst should have made it 3-1 in injury time and ended his United stint on a high but he missed a sitter. Any half decent striker would have buried that but let’s move on.
One more match to go before the summer break…..a massive one…NUMQUAM MORIBIMUR!
