Second half comeback seals first win in 5 matches

Man Utd 2
Brentford 1

United returned to winning ways after 5 matches without a win and it was, as usual, not easy. The first half went by without United managing to set any houses on fire and Brentford always willing to go forward. As HT was practically seconds away, De Ligt had to go off the pitch as he had blood on his head following an earlier clash of heads. From the resulting corner, Brentford took the lead when Dalot once again lost his man and Pinnock headed home rather comfortably. De Ligt and ETH complained with the officials but there was only one way to point a finger – and that was the United medical team. How about a good old bandage around the head like the good old times? Sadly, another instance where levels have gone down, considerably, and this was one area that I thought could be tackled and sorted by INEOS immediately!

A sense of deja vu fell on OT and most of us watching from across the globe must have all felt the same way – here we go again! I am not going to get too excited but the second half display was good, at times very good, especially until we managed to turn the result in our favour. Seconds after the restart, Rashford sent in a great cross but Garnacho still had it all to do – the finish was sublime, 1-1.

United continued to play well and were clearly the better team and it was no surprise when just past the hour, Bruno’s delightful flick sent Hojlund through and the finish was again sublime. 2-1 up with 30 minutes to go…I was still nervous. Dalot missed a good chance and Zirkzee, on for Hojlund, failed to connect when in front of goal. Unless Zirkzee is going to get quicker, the English game is going to seem too fast for him. Someone should basically tell him that this is not the Serie A!

As FT approached, the back passes and possession game creeped in and it was squeaky bum time. Luckily, Brentford had ran out of fuel and we managed to this one through.

A win and some respite for ETH – he now needs to pull off some results in the coming 2 away matches. Turkey is never easy, but London is going to be tough as well. I still believe ETH will not manage to pull through but it may very well be that I am wrong. For the sake of my beloved team, I just wish that we get a couple of wins in the next 2 games and see better football and if there is anyone out there who is so keen on seeing ETH out that they prefer that their team loses, I have only this to say…you are not a true United fan…Numquam Moribimur!
