We were all dreaming that with a team that had ten changes from the last victory at Villa Park, we would still be able to beat the Foxes. In the end it was not to be, United beaten – once again – by a goal from a corner kick. The only survivor from Sunday, Mason Greenwood continued his red-hot form with a temporary instinctive equaliser. The win put Leicester up to third in the Premier League and they will qualify for the Champions League with four more points from their remaining two games. The win also gave Manchester City the Premier League title. Only four points now separate United from Leicester City, although the Reds have a game in hand. Thursday’s match versus Liverpool thus increases in importance.
My man of the match is ‘skipper for the day’, Nemanja Matic. He had a tremendous ‘turn back the clock’ performance’. It was thanks to him that the half time score remained at one-all, shielding a leaky back four. However he was outjumped by Caglar Soyuncu for Leicester’s second. His work with the ball was superb, keeping United on the front foot. He was the only centre-back who looked to pass forward and not just kick a long ball for the 5’6 Amad to try and win!
So this was the second of a ridiculous four games in eight days, One assumes that United will be back to full strength for the third match, this time against the Scousers, who badly need points to continue hoping for Champions League qualification.
