Man of the Match: Liverpool vs Man Utd (Premier League)

With Liverpool having the best Premier League home record this season – and were unbeaten in their previous 67 league matches at Anfield – while United have the best away record in the League – a stalemate could have been predicted and indeed it was.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was of the view that his players didn’t play well enough because they failed to enforce themselves on the game. United could have indeed won the match had it not been for two vital saves late in the match from Liverpool keeper Alisson who denied Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba from close range.

My Man of the Match is Luke Shaw. It was a really smart performance from the United left-back. He was diligent and solid defensively and good with the ball. He was always willing to make ambitious driving runs and he set up Fernandes for that big chance. He was the reason that caused Klopp to swap wingers in the first-half, and he continued nullifying Mo Salah.

United stay three points clear of Liverpool – which have now failed to score for a third Premier League game in a row. The two sides meet again in the FA Cup on Sunday, this time at Old Trafford. United remain leaders of the table by two points over Leicester City.
