3 points and not much else

Fulham 0

Man Utd 1

It was, to put it mildly, not a great game of football. Both sides lacked creativity and for most of the match the keepers were pretty much watching from a distance. One of the worrying issues about our beloved team is that we are struggling so much to create chances. Within the current squad we do not have a striker that can hold the ball, wait for the team to move forward and create danger. We are even struggling to create dangerous counter attacks. The most common notion is that there is not enough quality in the squad. My counter argument is that there are teams in the EPL with even less quality who create more danger and have more shots on goal per match than us.

Anyways, back to the match, we scored with our first shot on target – believe it or not, on the 78th minute! Martinez unleashed a shot from outside the box which took a slight deflection, enough to create the perfect parabola to beat the Fulham keeper who managed to get a hand to it, but could not keep it out.

There was still time for some drama though – just enough to wake us up – Amad seemed to have sealed it with a second goal in injury time but the goal was annulled by VAR – the narrowest of offsides, but I believe that our player was in an offside position.

We need to improve, and improve drastically to climb up the table. The quality of the football we are seeing against teams we should be playing good football against is simply nowhere near good enough. We have beaten Citeh, and drawn with the Scouse – both away. Matches when we had to sit back and absorb – but when we need to go forward and create – oh the struggle!! I firmly believe that a proper centre forward who can hold the ball and score a few goals will improve this team’s performances significantly. It does not seem to be happening in this transfer window though – INEOS seem to be going through a cost-cutting exercise and although some supporters are already complaining about them, I will wait and see what happens – the situation we are in is all fault of the Glazers and Woodward…Numquam Moribimur!
